A mountain

Someone sent me a mail today, saying that she would love to lose 18 kg, but it feels like a mountain in front of her. Well it surely is a mountain, but you have to take the first step! This is always the most difficult one to take. And for a long time you need to carry on, sometimes not seeing any results. When you start a good eating plan, the body often takes a week or two to stabilize and it literally puts back all the small sugars or glucose in its place, like in the liver. The stored form of glucoe is called glycogen, and this is stored in water, which means that you may even weigh a kilo heavier! But don't despair, this is called repair!

With crash diets, the opposit happens, you lose 2kg in the first week, and this reflects that the opposit is happening....you have lost just water.

Just push through, you will eventually see results. What do you do in the meantime though? This waiting is hard. Don't focus on your weigt problem, then it tends to grow! Don't weigh yourself every day, PLEASE. Start by changing you focus. Think on whatever is just, and true and worthy of praize! Change your thought pattern. Think of yourself as a deserving person, and not one that has to be punished for being overweigt. You have to allow yourself foods you LOVE. This is part of sending posive messages to yourself. There is no way that any program is sustainable, if it does not allow you normal everyday foods that you like. The essense is eating smaller amounts of all foods, and cherishing every bite, with thanksgiving!
